was commissioned to do a Summoner Wars poster for the Blagog blog, this is what came out of it :)
Current geek want - Discworld: Ankh-Morpork board game
Since reblogging an image about this game a few weeks ago my desire to own this game has grown exponentially.
How many people can say that they spent 12 hours straight playing board games, and loved every second of it?
I had so much fun today, thank you to all the people who made it so special!
Highlight Games of the day:
- Alien Frontiers (I won, of course)
- The Resistance (Best buy in a long time)
- Arkham Horror (First time playing, so much fun!)
- Shadows Over Camelot (We say we won, but that’s a lie)
I’ll pass on the Arkham Horror but the rest sounds like a pretty good day :)
an awesome website to find lots of different board games based on what you like! :D
In this game the players enter an abandoned base in order to root out the parasitic entities within. The problem is that one of the players will become the host and its their job to convert the rest of the party. This game looks really awesome, I really dig The Thing-like theme…
I’ll have to take a look at panic station when it comes out, i saw some pictures on the BGG and it intrigued me.
I miss playing board games!
I feel old saying this but I’m in the 90’s and I miss those family or friends times when we had board games that make you think instead of be on computer all the time…
You actually have less social interactions now adays…
Its mostly social networking

Panel at DiGRA on modern board games. Of special interest to you might the discussion of the inspiration and impact of the game War on Terror (which is a board game that is amazing that also includes a balaclava with the word “EVIL” on it).
Hosted by: Ben Kirman (lecturer in game design at the University of Lincoln, ben.kirman.org) and José Zagal (game designer, scholar and researcher at DePaul University, facsrv.cs.depaul.edu/~jzagal). Panelists are:
Reiner Knizia (knizia.de/english.htm)
Chris Bateman (onlyagame.typepad.com/about.html)
Andrew Sheerin (terrorbullgames.co.uk)
James Wallis (spaaace.com/spaaace-people)
Douglas Wilson (game.itu.dk/index.php/Douglas_Wilson)
Armand Servaes (spelgroepphoenix.nl)
The panel brings together academics and practitioners from both sides of the digital gaming divide. They will attempt to explore what makes the modern board game interesting, and discuss the opportunities and challenges this evolving form of play presents and the impact that board games, and their study, should be having on game studies as a whole.
